Help Us Fight for Janay Josue’s Freedom
Message from Janay's family:
We’re raising funds for our cousin and nephew, Janay Josue, who was recently detained by ICE after a routine immigration check-in — one he showed up to just like always, not knowing it would be the day they’d take him.
He did nothing wrong.
He has no criminal record, no history of violence.
He’s followed every rule since the day he got here.
When he first arrived in the U.S., Janay turned himself in at the border while seeking protection and asylum, escaping real fear and political distress. He was detained during that process — like many others — and it was one of the hardest experiences of his life. Now, being detained again has brought all that trauma back.
Since settling here, Janay has worked every single day. He’s an electrician by trade and currently works at an auto shop as a car polisher. He helps pay bills, supports his loved ones — he’s the main provider in his household. He’s never caused trouble. He just shows up, works hard, and does his part.
Now he’s in detention again.
He’s scared of being deported, scared of being transferred to another detention center far from his family, and he’s starting to lose hope.
To make things worse, his bank account was frozen, and the paycheck he had just received — which his family was counting on to pay rent — became completely inaccessible.
We’re doing everything we can to support him. We’re currently trying to find legal representation and working toward getting him a bond hearing — but the process is overwhelming and expensive.
We’re raising funds to help cover:
• Legal fees and bond-related costs
• Immigration paperwork and filings
• Temporary support for his household while he’s unable to work
Janay Josue doesn’t deserve this. He’s not a criminal. He’s a son, a brother, a cousin, a nephew, a friend — a good man who’s only ever done the right thing.
If you can give, thank you. If you can share this, we’re so grateful. Every bit helps.
With love,
His family
