Help Us Fight Cancer!! #AntsArmy

Hello my name is Lynn Mesimer and I have started this GoFundMe for Anthony & Mary Marshburn.

I’ve known Anthony Marshburn since we were young but have gotten to know him very well in the last 10-11years when he became a part of our family circle.

In October 2023 Anthony was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer). This particular type of cancer is both uncommon and aggressive. Typically by the time the cancer is discovered/diagnosed it has already begun to spread and that is the case with Anthony; however, at this time they don’t feel it has spread very far.

There are varying types of Cholangiocarcinoma—based on the information at this time the doctors feel he has Hilar Cholangiocarcinoma. Due to the size and location surgery is not an option. Radiation is also not an option due to the location and risks involved with nearby anatomy. The current plan is to attack with chemotherapy and the doctors are optimistic about the effectiveness; especially since Anthony is young and in overall good health. We are still working our way thru the various tests to determine staging/grading and should know more about it soon.

Many people have been calling, messaging, visiting, and asking how they can help so we decided to start this GoFundMe to help with the financial burden on them both. Anthony and Mary are both fortunate to work for companies that are being very supportive but the reality of the situation is that Anthony is unable to work and Mary will miss a lot of time as well while he is fighting cancer. Since this type of cancer is rare and aggressive he is being treated by the doctors at Duke which means frequent trips to Durham. Please pray for our family because we know we serve an amazing God who can do big miracles and we know there is always a purpose and a plan—-even when we don’t understand it.
