In the past six months, I have been hit with a catastrophic physical disability, losing all muscle strength in my legs, which has left me unable to stand up or walk. This sudden change has made it impossible for me to live independently, and I am now facing the prospect of moving to a nursing home. Adding to the challenge, I am the sole parent of a 27-year-old son who has seven mental disabilities, including autism, OCD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, severe anxiety with panic attacks, and oppositional defiant disorder. He currently lives in a supportive living home in another city, but he is extremely unhappy and isolated in his current situation.

We have a friend named Rebecca, a caregiver by trade, who is married to a man who abuses her daily. She has nowhere safe to go, and her situation is dire. Our dream is to rent a home large enough for the three of us to live together. This would allow my son to be near me, which would be a blessing for him, and away from his stressful environment. Rebecca could be a caregiver to both of us, and together we could support each other and build a new life. This arrangement would also allow me to avoid moving to a nursing home, keeping our family together and safe.

The funds raised will go directly toward renting a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home or apartment, covering the security deposit, and paying for moving costs including a U-Haul, labor, gasoline, and miscellaneous expenses. With your support, we will be able to create a safe and loving home, enjoy peace and tranquility, and pursue positive goals of sound mental health and regaining strong physical health.
