My name is Abdifatah Mohamed, and I am currently volunteering in Jigjiga, where I have been working alongside Bayt Al Maal charity foundation during the blessed month of Ramadan.
During this time, I joined the foundation’s daily iftar program, helping prepare and distribute meals to people who are fasting and struggling financially. What I have seen has truly impacted me. Many of the individuals who come have no steady income and face daily hardship, yet they continue to fast with patience, faith, and dignity.
This program began with just $300 and the goal of feeding 20–25 people each day. As news of the program spread, more people in need began to attend. Now, 30–35 individuals come daily, and the number continues to grow. Unfortunately, because of limited funds, we are sometimes unable to feed everyone. Watching fasting people leave without a meal is heartbreaking, and it is the reason I decided to start this fundraiser.
This campaign has two main goals:
To expand the daily iftar program so that no one is forced to break their fast hungry.
To provide new clothing for poor Muslims in time for Eid al-Fitr, so they can celebrate with dignity and happiness.
Eid is meant to be a joyful and meaningful day. It is a time for community, gratitude, and renewal. However, for many families here, Eid feels like any other day because they cannot afford new clothes or basic necessities. Our aim is to provide each person in need with a new shirt, trousers, and a pair of shoes, so they can feel confident and included in the celebration.
This initiative is entirely volunteer-led. Dedicated community members give their time each day to organize, prepare, and distribute meals before the Maghrib prayer. Every dollar raised goes directly toward helping those in need, with full transparency and accountability.
All funds will be used for:
Food for the daily iftar meals
Eid clothing for individuals in need
Direct support for the most vulnerable members of the community
After seeing this work firsthand, I feel a strong responsibility to help it grow. No one who is fasting should have to end their day in hunger, and no family should feel forgotten on Eid.
Your donation—no matter the amount—can provide a meal for a fasting person and bring joy to someone on Eid. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign is also a meaningful way to help.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
