**In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Mum, Mrs Shaila Ghani **

*Assalamu’alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh*

As we approach two years since our mum returned to her Lord (SWT), we wanted to do something in her memory that reflects who she was and what she stood for.

We are raising money to provide meals for less fortunate families and individuals in her rural village in Gazipur, Bangladesh — a simple act of giving, in remembrance of her.

On Friday 10th May 2024, at 11:52AM, on a beautiful day that fell on Jummah (SubhanAllah), our mum took her last breath after battling gallbladder cancer for 3 months.

She was a brave and courageous woman who fought until the very end. This wasn’t her first battle — back in 1998, she was diagnosed with breast cancer while raising a 4-year-old and a 2-month-old baby. Even then, she fought with everything she had, and by the will of Allah, she overcame it. She was then given 26 more beautiful years to live, to raise us, care for us, and watch us grow into adults.

We will always be grateful to Allah for that time, because we know every soul shall taste death.

Like a true warrior, she never gave up — even in her final moments. She loved life and wanted to hold onto it for as long as she could.

But more than anything, our mum will always be remembered for her character.

She was the most caring, loving, and kind person. She would go above and beyond for anyone — whether it was a stranger she met on the train or someone who needed her help or advice. She always showed up for people and treated them with so much respect and care, like they were her own family. She was genuinely one of the kindest people you could meet. She had a soft heart and always felt for others.

She helped so many people throughout her life — lifting them up, supporting them, and making sure they were okay. She had a way of making people feel looked after.

She truly was the definition of selfless love — always putting her family and others before herself. She was the type of person who couldn’t ignore someone struggling. She would always try to help in whatever way she could, even if it was something small. A conversation, advice, checking in on someone — she just cared.

Even when she was unwell, she didn’t lose that. She stayed patient, strong, and continued thinking about others.

Anyone who knew her will understand what kind of person she was. And if you didn’t, just know she was someone who always tried to do good for others.

So in her memory, we wanted to give back to the community she grew up in and help those who are in need, even if it’s just through providing a meal for one day.

**SubhanAllah as we’ve reached our target for feeding the less fortunate, we have decided as a family to put the remaining funds towards building a water well in my mums name as an act of Sadaqah Jariyah, an ongoing form of charity that will last a lifetime and help families and individuals whom do not have access to clean water. We are only able to do this because of everyone’s donations and with your Duas. We are so grateful for all your kindness and contributions towards this cause.**

“And establish prayer and give zakah, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves—you will find it with Allah.” — (Qur’an 2:110)

We pray that Allah (SWT) accepts this from us, forgives her shortcomings, and grants her the highest place in Jannah.

Till we reunite again, love you forever and always amu.

”Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.” — (Qur’an 2:156)
