Help My Parents Feed 1,000 Haitian Families!
Bonjou! Fanmi, Zanmi ak Koleg! Family, Friends and Colleagues! My name is Angie and I am a proud Haitian-American. I grew up in Haiti and both of my parents still live in Haiti. As you know, on August 14, 2021, at 8:29 AM Eastern Time, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake devastated the southwest region of Haiti. The most recent death toll from the earthquake is estimated at over 2,000 people, with over 136,000 buildings and homes destroyed or badly damaged.
My parents run a local non-profit organization, Caribbean Christian Club (CCC), that has served as a pillar of educational and economic opportunity for much of southwest Haiti. They are on the ground right now, leading relief and recovery efforts. The earthquake destroyed Les Cayes and Jeremie, two major cities, leaving families without homes and basic supplies. My extended family is from Jeremie. And while we're grateful that they're alive and unharmed, our community has been decimated. In Menard, we run an orphanage that serves over 40 children — it was badly damaged and new orphans keep showing up at our door daily since the quake. In Rousseau, we run a school that serves over 180 students — it, too, was badly damaged. And across southwest Haiti, we serve ~1,000 families.
Please join me in raising $50,000 toward supporting 1,000 Haitian families who have been devastated by the earthquake, with basic needs such as food, water, housing, and safety/hygiene supplies. Our goal is to raise $100,000 over time.
CCC will be the direct recipients of the funds raised. CCC will use the funds to directly purchase the goods. And then, in partnership with the communities impacted, CCC will pack, transport and distribute the goods purchased directly to the families impacted. You can learn more about CCC here: https://caribbeanchristianclub.org/
Having grown up in Haiti, I know that every single donation will go into the hands of local leaders who know what's best for their community. Since all the funds will go directly to local leaders, this means zero overhead costs. Any and every donation will be hugely impactful.
Thanks in advance for helping us raise $50,000 toward this critical cause.
In partnership,
Angie
