Hi everyone, my name is Yadira, and I am currently a nurse practitioner student completing my clinical practicum at a community-based clinic that is truly changing lives.
Even in just a couple of weeks, this experience has been nothing short of incredible.
This clinic, in collaboration with Innovation Commons and DePaul University, provides completely free healthcare to individuals and families in our community—regardless of insurance status. Patients come not only for medical care, but for support, dignity, and compassion. Many have faced barriers to care for far too long, and this clinic is often their first opportunity to be seen, heard, and treated.
In addition to free primary care services, we provide health education, patient resources, community resource navigation, and assistance with insurance enrollment.
Working alongside Dr. Netter has been one of the most inspiring experiences of my journey. She is not only an exceptional provider, but also a dedicated mentor and researcher who is deeply committed to serving the community and training future healthcare professionals. The way she integrates patient care, research, and education creates a meaningful and lasting impact—not just for patients, but for students like myself.
Before finding this practicum site, I struggled to secure a placement, and continuing in my DNP program felt uncertain at times. This opportunity completely changed that. It reignited my passion, strengthened my purpose, and reminded me why I chose this path in the first place. I am not alone—every student working here has felt this same sense of purpose, growth, and inspiration.
But what matters most is the impact on the community.
Every day, we see patients who otherwise would not have access to care. We help manage chronic conditions, provide preventive services, assist with insurance enrollment, and create a safe, supportive space where people feel respected and valued.
This work is essential.
However, clinics like this rely on support to continue providing these services and expanding their reach. That is why we are raising funds—to sustain and grow the care being provided to our community.
Your donation will help:
Provide free medical visits to underserved patients
Support essential medical supplies and resources
Expand outreach and access to care
Continue training future providers who are passionate about serving their communities
If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this page can make a huge difference.
This clinic is more than just a place for care—it is a place of hope, compassion, and change. I have seen firsthand the difference it makes, and I truly believe in the work being done here.
Thank you for taking the time to read, support, and believe in this mission.
With gratitude,
Yadira Coronado, RN, BSN
