Help Us Expand “Eyes On The Wild” to Java!

Donation protected
We’re excited to announce the next big step for Eyes On The Wild (formerly known as the “Sumatra Camera Trap Project”)!

Thanks to your support, we’ve been documenting incredible wildlife in Isau-Isau Nature Reserve, South Sumatra — from clouded leopards, to sun bears, and countless species rarely seen on camera. Now, we have the chance to expand our work to a new, under-researched region: the Menoreh Mountains of Yogyakarta Province, Java.

Why Java?

The Menoreh Mountains are home to unique and threatened wildlife, yet they remain poorly studied. With your help, we aim to uncover and share evidence of:

• Javan leopard – due to habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and poaching, these fascinating animals are now critically endangered and rarely photographed in the wild. To enable and establish more effective conservation measures, studies are essential to collect further data on the distribution of the animals.

• Javan warty pig – Despite being categorised as Endangered, these pigs remain unprotected by Indonesian law; this means that hunting them for sport or crop protection is still legal. Data gathered from camera trap surveys is essential for getting the necessary legislations put in place to protect this species.

And that’s just the beginning. Every camera trap set could reveal new discoveries — species, interactions and behaviours, and perhaps even previously undocumented populations.

Why It Matters

Our work does more than capture striking images:

Conservation impact – Documenting wildlife provides data that can guide protection efforts.

Awareness – Sharing these hidden animals with the world builds appreciation for species and ecosystems that desperately need safeguarding.

Local collaboration – We work with communities on the ground, creating opportunities for conservation partnerships and education.

Our Goal: £1,000

This first fundraising target will allow us to begin our work in the Menoreh Mountains and set up 3 camera traps in Java. Here’s how your donations will be used:

Camera Traps (x3) – £750 (£250 each)
SD cards (x3) – £15 (£5 each)
Batteries (x3) – £30 (£10 each)
Taxes and fees – £20
Other expenses (transport, logistics, field supplies) – £145

How You Can Help

Donate – Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to setting up these first 3 cameras in Java.

Share – Spread the word about our mission with friends, family, and anyone passionate about conservation.

Stay connected – Receive regular updates, behind-the-scenes stories, and footage from the field.

The Journey Ahead

This £1,000 goal is just the beginning. Once the first 3 cameras are running, we’ll share the discoveries and build momentum for future expansion. With your help, we’ll bring the Menoreh Mountains to life — revealing wildlife stories that have never been told.

Donate today and help Eyes On The Wild take this next big step!

Thank you for being part of our journey!
