Help us evacuate our family out of Gaza

My name is Susan Adalat, I live in the United States, and with the help of family members abroad, I have launched this fundraiser to help evacuate our family out of Gaza. Our cousin Awesta, one of our family members who was able to find refuge in Egypt, has asked to help save the lives of her remaining family members who are in imminent danger in Rafah. This is Awesta’s message:

Hello everyone,

This is a picture of Hamdi (11), Hala (9), and Amir (3). They are my brother's children—and they, along with their parents, and my father are still trapped in Gaza. We lost everything when we were forced to leave our homes in Northern Gaza back in November of last year. The neighborhood we grew up in and raised our children in was destroyed beyond recognition, and with it, we lost so many belongings and memories.

With everything gone, our sole focus now is on survival and saving the family left behind. Myself and a few other family members were lucky enough to evacuate to Egypt, however the rest of my family is currently cornered in Rafah, once considered a “safe zone,” where two-thirds of Gaza’s population are taking refuge, and which is now under heavier threat and bracing for attack.

On top of all their other difficulties, my father has a chronic heart condition that requires medication, of which he is running extremely low. It is a miracle that they all have survived as long as they have, but my family is in imminent danger with nowhere safe left in Gaza to turn to. Their time to get to safety gets smaller by the hour.

As danger grows by the minute, this has become our only option to get my family to safety so that we can be reunited. Your help means everything to us right now. Even the smallest contribution is a lifeline for my family and is truly appreciated.

Awesta and her family urgently need our help. With the current situation having no end in sight, we need to raise funds for the expensive border fees for the evacuation of 6 people: Hamdi (11), Hala (9), Amir (3), their mother (34), father (38), and grandfather (68) out of Gaza. This is the breakdown of the current border fees:

- $6,000 per adult

- $3,500 per child

Total for 6 people: $28,500

Goal: $29,000 ($500 to cover GoFundMe fees)

I want to be as transparent as possible about the entire process. The evacuation fees are our immediate priority. Any additional funds raised will be used towards other expenses; such as food, water, medicine, hygiene products, and housing for them to initially get by with once safely out of Gaza.

As the organizer of the fundraiser, I will be receiving the funds, which will be transferred to my cousin Awesta in Egypt. She will coordinate the payment of the evacuation fees in Egypt for her 6 family members. All confirmations will be promptly provided to GoFundMe of where and how the funds were transferred. There is a lot of moving parts with this process, but I will continue to post regular updates as new information comes in.
