Help Us Escape Our Dangerous Mold-Infested Apartment

Hi, my name is Alexandra, and my partner, our two pups and I need urgent help.

Earlier this year, we left everything behind in Texas to chase our dream of building a new life in the Pacific Northwest. We poured all of our savings into this move, hoping for a fresh start — but instead, we’ve found ourselves trapped in a dangerous and heartbreaking situation.

Just two weeks after moving into our apartment, we started developing serious health problems: extreme coughing, trouble breathing, dizziness, headaches, dry eyes, and more. After two trips to the ER, we discovered the cause — extensive black mold growing throughout our unit.

The apartment complex is fully aware. Maintenance even admitted that the mold is spreading because the buildings were constructed without proper ventilation or moisture barriers. But instead of fixing the issue, they told us to buy more fans, dehumidifiers, and just keep cleaning it ourselves with Killz spray. We’ve spent hundreds trying to fight it — and it’s still getting worse.

Now, the complex is ignoring our emails entirely. Meanwhile, we’re drowning in:

Medical debt from ER visits

Thousands in lost furniture, electronics, and instruments ruined by mold

Expenses to move and restart in a safe place

And it'll cost thousands just to break our lease

We live paycheck to paycheck and are struggling to afford basic groceries as it is, and we have no way to afford to not only break our lease but to also get into a new, safe home.

We’re scared for our health and for our two service dogs, who are also living in this mold-infested space. I’m having coughing fits so severe I can barely breathe, and we’re both dealing with constant headaches, dizzy spells, congestion, fatigue, and more. We can’t keep living like this. We just want a safe home.

We’re asking for financial help to:
