Hello, I am reaching out because my family and I are going through a period of brutal instability, living off an inconsistent income that threatens our very foundation. As a 26-year-old Queer Native American with a child on the way, I find myself in an increasingly desperate situation that I cannot navigate alone. My ability to work has been severely limited by my scoliosis diagnosis and a rib injury, while I continue to battle PTSD and Bipolar disorder daily. Despite applying for disability five times now, I'm still waiting for my upcoming consideration court date this July, with no guarantees of approval.
My journey has been marked by hardship from an early age. I was put in dangerous situations throughout my childhood that continue to affect me today. In 2024, I moved into my mom's home to support her and my younger brother as our circumstances became increasingly precarious. Just two years ago, my mother made the brave decision to escape from her abusive husband who had been contributing half to our household expenses. When she chose safety over abuse, she took on the full financial burden of maintaining our home. Now, after two years of struggling to support our family alone, she faces an impossible choice: losing our housing or resuming contact with her abuser.
I moved out at 18 because I needed to escape violence and instability. The people I've met along my journey have taught me about community, grace, and the importance of approaching others without judgment. These connections have shown me what true support looks like, and now I'm turning to this community in our time of greatest need.
Our Immediate Need: $1,500
Here's what your support will help cover:
Partial Mortgage Payment: $500 toward our $1,200 monthly payment to prevent falling further behind
Urgent Electricity Bill: $350 to keep our lights on and prevent disconnection
Heating System Repair: $400 of the $700 needed for essential repairs as temperatures drop to 50
Emergency Groceries: $250 to feed our family for the next two weeks, supplementing the rest of the month with food shelves
This fundraiser isn't just about money—it's about breaking a cycle of violence. I'm watching my mother struggle while raising her third child, my 15-year-old brother who deserves stability and a safe environment where he can grow into himself. I cannot stand by and let my family fall back into domestic violence because of financial desperation.
Achieving our goal would provide the breathing room we urgently need to address my disability case, gather important legal documents, and significantly reduce our overwhelming stress levels. Most importantly, it would give us time to plan and adjust our circumstances to provide a safe, healthy environment for my coming child.
