I am a mother doing everything I can to protect my children after a traumatic and terrifying experience. While I was at work, I left my children with their biological father, trusting they would be safe. My world was shattered when I checked my home security cameras and witnessed him throw and smother our 6-month-old daughter. Later, while reviewing the footage with hospital social workers, I saw that he had also strangled her several times. My sweet girl is such a happy baby, and seeing her hurt in this way has left me and my children scarred for life.

Despite clear video evidence, the police response was slow, and he was allowed to remain free for two days. He is now in custody, but I am terrified that he could be released at any time. My priority is to get myself and my children far away from him to ensure our safety. We urgently need to move across the country, but the costs are overwhelming. I am also under contract at work and will owe my employer a sign-on bonus that I cannot currently pay back. I am trying to negotiate, but my biggest concern is the amount they want back, as well as the costs of ending our current lease and starting a new one.
