Hi, my name is Blade,

Right now three friends and a dog are living in tents in Western Australia while temperatures are reaching 40°C and above.

The past year has been incredibly difficult, and things have unfolded in ways I never expected.
Around six months ago my car was stolen, which immediately made life much harder because I lost my only reliable transport. Shortly after that I experienced a series of housing issues and was made homeless twice within two weeks. During one of those situations I lost the rent money I had paid for a place I was meant to stay.
For about two months I was living in the bush in a tent, doing my best to get by and keep moving forward.

During that time the stress and instability eventually caught up with me and I experienced a mental health crisis, which led to me being admitted to the mental health ward at St John of God Midland Public Hospital for around three months.
After leaving hospital I stayed with my parents for a while and managed to get a job, which felt like a real step toward rebuilding my life again.

Unfortunately that job situation also broke down suddenly, and I found myself without work and without a place to stay again. Within a very short time I was back in an unstable situation and trying to figure out my next step.

Right now two friends of mine are homeless and I am temporarily in my aunties backyard in a tent. My aunty whom has Multiple Sclerosis is on constant infusions and medicine, so I need to make it temporary as she of all people deserve to have her own space and also the landlord's won't allow for I to be here permanently. We are supporting each other and doing what we can to get back on our feet. They also have a dog with them who depends on then and means the world to us.
We’re currently living in tents and trying to survive the extreme heat while working out a way forward.

What we're trying to do to rebuild:

We don’t want to stay stuck in this situation.
We’ve started offering services through Airtasker doing jobs like:
• Cleaning
• Gardening
• Removals and lifting work
• General labour
• Odd jobs where tools and materials are provided

We’re ready and willing to work, but the biggest obstacle right now is transport.
Without a vehicle it’s extremely difficult to get to jobs consistently or travel to where work is available.

Why a van would change everything:
Our goal is to raise enough to purchase a reliable used van.
A van would give us:
• Shelter from extreme heat and weather
• A safe place to sleep
• Transport to Airtasker jobs and other work
• A way to keep ourselves and our dog safe
It wouldn’t be luxury — just a basic vehicle that can help us stabilise our lives and work again.

Where the funds will go:
Our goal is $8,000, which would help cover:
Used van – $5,500
Registration & insurance – $900
Basic bed/storage setup – $400
Fuel & emergency costs while finding work – $1,200
Any extra funds would go toward food, bills, and helping us get stable again.

Why we’re asking for help:
Living in tents in 40°C heat is exhausting and dangerous, but we’re doing our best to stay positive and keep moving forward.
We truly believe that if we can secure one reliable vehicle, we can start turning things around by getting to work and having a safe place to sleep.
If you’re able to donate or even just share this campaign, it could make a real difference for us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
