Help us equip our rural hospital in Nagaland India

Being a gynaecologist, I know very well how important it is to be able to do an emergency caesarean to save the life of the baby or the mother. Had I been living in rural Nagaland when it was time for me to give birth I don’t know if my baby daughter would have survived, as emergency care isn’t available around the clock.

 

This is why my husband, who is from Nagaland, and I, want to bring our expertise as medical professionals to rural Nagaland and set up a well-equipped hospital there. We hope to provide compassionate and quality health care for the people of the hills in Mokokchung District in Nagaland, India.

 

To begin with we founded the Anava Foundation, a non-profit society in Switzerland to be the base for our charitable work. In 2016 we could buy land near Settsü village in Nagaland, bring in electricity, dig a borewell for water and do the earth cutting. 2018 we started construction on the hospital building. Thanks to the generous support and donations of our friends and family we are nearing its completion and are facing the enormous task of equipping it.

 

We want to set up:

- 2 delivery rooms           6000.- CHF each

- 2 operation theatres     60’000.- CHF (with desperately needed laparascopic equipment)

- a recovery room            15’000. - CHF

- a laboratory                    15’000.- CHF

- an X-ray room                15’000.- CHF

- patient wards                 10’000.- CHF

- 4 examination rooms    2000.- CHF each

- emergency department 20’000.-CHF

So, in total we will need around 215’000.- to make the hospital fully functional.

 

If you feel in any way able to contribute to our project - every Swiss Franc will bring us a step closer to providing for the needs of this region.

For...

- 10 CHF you’ll cover the cost of a pack of 50 sterile gloves

- 20 CHF you’ll provide a blood pressure machine

- 40 CHF you’ll pay for a fetal doppler machine

- 100 CHF you’ll get us a mattress

- 350 CHF you’ll pay for a window

- 500 CHF you’ll provide a hospital bed

- 1500 CHF you’ll finance an operation theatre lamp

 

In the future any income that might be generated by the hospital will be used to covering its’ costs, maintenance and a surplus would go to other charitable works. Helfen Sie uns die dringend benötigte Ausrüstung für unser ländliches Krankenhaus in Nagaland zu beschaffen!

 

Als Gynäkologin weiss ich sehr gut, wie wichtig es ist, einen Notkaiserschnitt durchführen zu können, um das Leben eines Babys oder seiner Mutter zu retten. Hätte ich im ländlichen Nagaland gelebt, als ich entbinden musste, weiss ich nicht, ob meine kleine Tochter überlebt hätte, denn eine Notfallversorgung ist nicht rund um die Uhr verfügbar.

Deshalb wollen mein Mann, der aus Nagaland stammt, und ich, unser Fachwissen als Mediziner in das ländliche Nagaland bringen und dort ein gut ausgestattetes Krankenhaus errichten. Wir hoffen, den Menschen in den Hügeln des Distrikts Mokokchung in Nagaland, Indien, menschliche und qualitativ hochwertige medizinische Versorgung bieten zu können.

Für die Basis unserer Arbeit haben wir mit der Anava Foundation eine gemeinnützige Gesellschaft in der Schweiz gegründet. 2016 konnten wir in der Nähe des Dorfes Settsü in Nagaland Land kaufen, die Stromversorgung sicherstellen, einen Bohrbrunnen für Wasser graben und den Erdaushub vornehmen. 2018 haben wir mit dem Bau des Spitalgebäudes begonnen. Dank der grosszügigen Unterstützung und Spenden unserer Freunde und Familie sind wir kurz vor der Fertigstellung und stehen nun vor der grossen Aufgabe, das Krankenhaus auszustatten.

 

Wir müssen folgendes einrichten:

- 2 Gebärsäle              je 6000.- CHF

- 2 Operationssäle     je 60'000.- CHF (inklusive dringend benötigter laparaskopischer Ausrüstung)

- Aufwachraum          15'000.- CHF

- Labor                        15'000.- CHF

- Röntgenraum            15'000.- CHF

- Bettenstationen        je 10'000.- CHF

- 4 Untersuchungsräume je 2000.- CHF

- Notfallzentrum         20'000.- CHF

Insgesamt werden wir also rund 215'000.-CHF benötigen, um das Spital voll funktionsfähig zu machen.
