In 2025, the first Balkan International Youth Summit for Peace brought together more than 120 young leaders from 33+ countries in Mitrovica, Kosova*. Alongside presidents, mayors, institutional representatives, civil society organizations, and international experts, these young changemakers engaged in meaningful dialogue, intercultural exchange, Action Labs, and youth-led initiatives focused on building a more peaceful and cooperative future.

The impact was powerful. New partnerships were formed, understanding across cultures was strengthened, and young people left inspired and equipped to become leaders for peace in their own communities. Now, we're preparing for an even more ambitious 2026 Balkan International Youth Summit for Peace.

At a time when young people face growing challenges—including political polarization, disinformation, limited opportunities for civic participation, and declining trust in institutions—the need for constructive spaces for dialogue and collaboration has never been greater.

But this Summit is about more than conversation.

2026 is about action.

This year's Summit moves us from the sidelines to the field. We are not simply listening to speeches about peace—we are actively designing, facilitating, and building it together. Young leaders will work directly alongside decision-makers, experts, and community leaders to develop practical solutions that strengthen peace, democratic engagement, and regional cooperation.

Taking place in the context of the United Nations' latest progress review of the Youth, Peace and Security Agenda, the Summit will provide a platform for young people to turn ideas into action and become active contributors to positive change.
