As a fellow chocolate maker, I launched a free competition centered on professional feedback and constructive dialogue. My intention has always been to help craft chocolate makers improve their work, gain confidence, and build meaningful connections, strengthening our industry through collaboration rather than competition.
As we enter a reflection period for the next season of the Craft Chocolat Challenge, I find myself at an important crossroads.
Since its beginning, the CCC has been built on a simple belief: craft chocolate makers deserve meaningful, professional feedback and recognition, without financial barriers. I created the program fully prepared to absorb the costs myself. At the time, it was manageable and felt like the right way to serve the industry.
But the event has grown. Participation has expanded internationally. Expectations have risen. And like everything else in the world, costs have increased.
We are now preparing for Season 6 (2027), which means:
• It’s time to place another multi-year medal order to maintain quality and better per-unit pricing.
• The website platform must be renewed and maintained.
• Shipping, administration, and logistics continue to rise in cost.
Traditionally, I’ve kept the CCC free for makers. That decision was intentional. Adding entry fees would disproportionately impact international participants, especially those at origin. Often, those are the makers who benefit most from structured feedback and global visibility. I never wanted cost to be the reason someone couldn’t participate.
At the same time, I am careful not to create sponsorship fatigue. Many of our industry partners already support the Midwest Craft Chocolate Festival, and I respect that investment deeply. The CCC serves a different purpose, it is an industry development initiative focused on education, feedback, and recognition.
My goal is simple:
To continue providing a high-quality, professional program that elevates craft chocolate makers worldwide, while keeping access open.
To do that sustainably, I need support.
If this program has value to you as a maker, supporter, enthusiast, or industry partner. I invite you to help us continue it. Your contribution directly supports medals, shipping logistics, website infrastructure, and the operational backbone that allows this to remain free for participants.
This isn’t about expansion for expansion’s sake.
It’s about maintaining quality.
It’s about access.
It’s about strengthening the craft chocolate industry together.
Thank you for being part of this community and for considering supporting Season 6 & beyond.
