Help Us During A High Risk Pregnancy and NICU Journey

Our family is facing an unexpected and urgent medical crisis, and we need your help.

My 21-year-old daughter-in-law (she's as much my daughter as the children I've birthed myself), pregnant with her first child, my son's first child, my first grandbaby, was recently rushed from a routine doctor’s appointment to the hospital, and then airlifted to a facility with a NICU. She is just 30 weeks along in her pregnancy and has been diagnosed with severe preeclampsia — a serious and life-threatening pregnancy complication for both her and the baby.

Doctors are doing everything they can to keep both her and the baby safe. She will remain hospitalized until delivery, which could happen at any time — possibly well before the 34-week mark they’re hoping to hold out for. Once the baby is born, they anticipate a minimum of 6 weeks in the NICU.

The hospital is 1.5 hours from home, and this distance creates significant emotional, financial, and logistical challenges.

My son works full-time, 9-hour days, and is traveling to the hospital daily to be with Nyla through this very difficult and challenging time.

They need to stay close to the hospital to bond with and care for their baby, especially for my Nyla to breastfeed.

The costs for accommodations, gas, meals, and missed work will be very quickly adding up.

The baby shower was scheduled for late June, but now we’ve had to cancel it — and we are unprepared for the early arrival of a preemie baby, who will have the initials Y.A.M. - our little yam.

We are also working diligently to prepare the home because there are concerns that need to be resolved for a new baby.

We’re humbly asking for your help to ease this burden. Every donation — no matter how small — will go directly toward:

Temporary housing near the hospital

Travel and food expenses

Preemie baby essentials

Making the home baby ready

Lost wages and emergency support

This has been a heartbreaking and overwhelming time, but we are staying strong for our precious girls and each other. If you're unable to donate, please share this campaign — your support in any form truly means the world to us. Every contribution helps in some way.

Thank you for helping our family stay together during this difficult journey.
