Help us Dodi Walk Again

Hi, I am Dodi – I’m a 4-year-old extremely spoiled Frenchie. Over the last two years I have been going through quite a few medical conditions not great for me. I started having a lot of pain, and for a long time, my doctors weren’t sure what was wrong – it all seemed to be a disruption on one of my vertebral discs or even meningitis.

For two years, I have been under medication to manage the pain and to make me feel better. However, six months ago, my doctor said I had to slowly stop taking steroids because they could harm my health in the long run. Things went okay for a while, but then the pain came back. At first, they thought it was an ear infection, and we treated it, but after just a week, I got worse. I couldn’t even get up from bed or coordinate my movements (going for a pee has become a real challenge).

My parents have been putting a lot of effort, emotionally and financially, doing everything they can to make me feel better as well as take well care for me. I’m a spoiled, noble pup – Dad cooks and prepares food just for me and we love going out for coffees to the park. But now my condition hasn’t let me enjoy those daily walks or live a normal doggy live. Unfortunately, I've seen my vet three times just this past two weeks due to my ongoing discomfort and an unbearable pain.

Today, I am writing you from the emergency department at Animal referral Hospital in essendon fields where my surgeon is suggesting another MRI of my neck followed by an urgent spinal decompressive surgery (ventral slot). The total cost for everything – the MRI, surgery, hospitalization, and medication – is about $6,800 which is more than my parents can afford.

Today I’m asking for a bit of your help. I just want to get back to my happy, silly self – playing at the park, running around at the beach, and going with my dad to play soccer. Your donation, no matter the size, will mean the world to me and my family. Even just sharing my story helps.
