In the fall of 2018, twelve Randolph Union High School students and two teachers will be traveling to Cortez, Colorado to spend five days at Crow Canyon Archaeological Center. We, as students, have spent over a semester in a rigorous classroom environment learning the techniques used in archaeology as well as the culture and history of the Puebloan peoples of the Southwest. Studying in the Four Corners region, we will have the opportunity to experience hands-on learning to make this content come to life.
The video below demonstrates the impact that this experience will have on our lives. The video chronicles the trip our peers took in October 2016, showing what they learned about excavation, lab work, ancient Puebloan people history and how that history has carried forth in modern Pueblos. After the trip, these students brought that learning back to our community.
We are trying to raise $6000 in order to cover the travel expenses from Burlington, VT to Durango, CO.
