Help us develop our outdoors!

Coates Lane Primary School is a one-form entry Primary School, situated in the beautiful town of Barnoldswick. Over 200 pupils attend each day from the town and the surrounding area. We believe in 'happiness at the heart' and giving children the best education possible.

At Coates Lane Primary School we believe strongly in ensuring every child is known, taught well, valued and cared for. We love to use the outdoors to enhance the children's education and support their wellbeing. We are an active school and have achieved GOLD in the School Sports Games Awards. We have beautiful school grounds and have access to a forest to complete our Forest School sessions.

It will come as no surprise that school budgets are continually restricted and tightened year on year. Unfortunately, lockdown has also impacted on Coates Lane Primary as we have not been able to open earn money through our wrap around care or hold our annual PTA fundraising events. In addition, we have actually incurred additional costs, which have been required to cover staffing and increased cleaning measures.

As a result, we have not been able to set aside the finances needed to continue to develop our school environment.  Whilst this is our reality, we are determined to find alternative ways to ensure we are able to continue to develop this for our wonderful children, and so we would like to share with you our Outdoor Fundraising Project.

Over the last 3 years, we have applied to the National Lottery funding 3 times for help with funding towards a fully accessible path around the perimeter of our extensive school field. Each time, we have been unsuccessful and denied any funding.

We know we are lucky to have such amazing green space but unfortunately it becomes very boggy and muddy. We have had it drained but it just keeps happening. We would LOVE to have a path built around the perimeter of the field so that the children, and community, could use it for daily walks. We would love it to be a sensory path, with benches and flowers so that the community could use it on the weekend as well to enhance their own wellbeing. It would enable to field to be used for daily exercise throughout the whole year.

After being so unsuccessful at gaining funding through bids, we are now turning to the community to help us. Over the next 6 months, we are going to be doing some sponsored events but are also looking for any kind donations off the community.

We would love to raise £3000 to help build the new path. We know it's a lot but we will be grateful for every penny!

Please help us by donating and keeping an eye on our social media for our fundraising events.
