Buddy System is a mockumentary about what life is like as a summer camp counselor. In the pilot, we follow the staff of Camp Monroe somewhere in rural Indiana as they go through staff training for the summer. They struggle at first to connect until they are thrown into the alluring and ominous staff initiation. The funds we raise will go towards turning this dream of a pilot into a reality!

I started working on this project almost two years ago. My friend, Ally, and I have always said that so many crazy things happen at camp that it needs to be turned into a TV show. One day we finally turned to each other and realized that we are both writers and we can just do it ourselves. We spent weeks coming up with characters and storylines loosely based on ourselves, our friends, and our experiences we have had over the years at camp. We never wrote anything down, we just imagined. We talked for days and never ran out of material and found that we pretty much wrote an entire season arc without trying. We had created a story full of laughs, zany antics, and maybe even a few tears. There is something in it for everyone.

Camp means everything to me. You can ask anyone I know; I almost never shut up about it. I started going to camp when I was 12 years old. I was a camper for 6 years and on staff for 4. Being a staff member brought me my best friends and some of the best memories I have ever made. We went through things together only we will understand. I also learned how special it is to leave a positive impact on a child's life. The kids I worked with at camp mean so much to me and they changed me probably as much as I changed them. These are all stories I would love to share with the world and believe many other people will find important, impactful, and relatable.

There is truly something in this show for everyone. The plot is engaging and there is never a dull moment. The characters are full of life as it takes a special kind of person to decide they want to spend their summer chasing around children in the blazing heat, running on little sleep and a dangerous amount of caffeine. The most important aspect of the show is the portrayal of people from different backgrounds coming together for a common goal. It is about being a part of something bigger than yourself. But also, you will never stop laughing.

If you ask anyone who has ever worked at a summer camp, they will recall it as some of the best summers of their lives. While it may be tiring, and the kids sometimes make you want to pull your hair out. And sometimes you look at yourself in the mirror wearing a full Pikatchu costume and wonder "what am I doing with my life?", you will also realize that you are making an impact that will last a lifetime. These kids will go on for the rest of their lives talking about the counselors they had at camp and how awesome they were, and that is pretty cool. But on top of that, the people you work with at the camp will become friends for life. You will tell the stories of these summers and these people to your grandkids. And if you are sitting here thinking, "Well I have never been a camp counselor, so I don't get it", that is the story Buddy System is setting out to tell. Everyone needs a little camp magic in their lives, and our goal with this project is to bring it to as many people as we can.

All of the funds raised for this project will go towards producing the pilot. It will cover renting gear, insurance, securing and decorating set locations, feeding and paying the crew, housing the crew during shoots, costuming, makeup, and much more. I am so grateful for every dollar raised towards this project and every person who considers donating.
