The Midwest Tech Project is a Workforce Development, Think Tank, & Mentoring Program agency that focuses on getting the African American & Latin X communities acclimated and prepared to work and create business within the Technology industry. We do this through Education, Our Youth Mentoring Programs, Adult Workshops & Trainings, Corporate Recruitment, and Employment/Skills Training placement.
Since our launch in 2016, we have created experiences that engage West Michigan’s most underserved communities providing access & opportunity in West Michigan’s Technology Ecosystem.
-Provided Adult Bootcamp Scholarships in Coding, Design Thinking, & Entrepreneurship
-Artificial Intelligence Workshops
-Power Up Technology Fair
-Bi-Lingual Technology Fair
-Man/Woman vs. Machine Robotic Expo
-City Hacks Tech Weekend
-Ladies First Women in Tech Conference (Middle School Girls)
-Launched our Youth Mentoring Program
-Facilitated 20 Paid Internships for High School Students
-Numerous Keynotes and Panel Discussions
With the current state of our economic, pandemic, and political landscape, the need for the work we do has been elevated immensely. In an efforts to assist People of Color to living wage opportunities on a larger scale, we MUST create more intentional and systemic partnerships that will lead to widespread employment and opportunities in the tech talent pipeline.
Here’s what we are working on
-Virtual Education and Outreach
-Mentoring/Skills Training for Youth
-Tech X Skills Training for Returning Citizens (Ex-Offenders)
-Institutional Partnerships for Employment/Internships
- Helping Young Entrepreneurs Strengthen Their Websites & E Commerce Platforms
- Workforce Development Partnership With Medical Mile
Funding will go to operations and programming in efforts to create greater impact in the midst of crisis and uncertainty. Help us diversify tech boardrooms, workplaces and the tech-talent pipeline where there is limitless potential & endless opportunities!
