Help us create an audiobook of 'At the Gates'

Emily Richardson and Naomi Lawson Jacobs co-wrote At The Gates: Disability, Justice and the Churches to share stories of disabled people's experiences in churches. The book tells critical stories of ableism and exclusion. It also shares disabled Christians' prophetic voices, calling churches to become places of justice for disabled people.

Now we want to create an audiobook version of these powerful stories. And we need your help.

As disability activists, access is so important to us. We want these stories to reach blind and dyslexic readers, and anyone else who doesn't have access to print (and we know there are many of you). We want these readers to know they're not 'the only one' - that they're not the only disabled Christian out there.

But our publishers don't have the resources to create an audiobook. That means it is left to us - two disabled people - to make the book more accessible.

This book has been costly for us - in money, time and energy. We would love to record the book ourselves, but impairment effects are preventing that. The next best thing is to hire a producer, voice artist, and other professionals to record this book, to make sure it's a good quality audio product for our listening audience. But that's going to cost money.

Our disabled Christian community has been so supportive of this book and the research behind it. We know you value these stories, and we're so grateful for that. Can we ask you to support the book one more time? Thank you!

We'll be giving all our royalties from the audiobook to the Torch Trust, who create accessible versions of Christian books. They've already helped us produce large print and Braille versions of 'At the Gates'. Find out more about their work here.
