Hi, we’re Ashlea and Georgia, and we are fundraising for Maple Medical PRU.
We are walking 31 miles over the course of 2 days (27th/28th June 2026) to raise money for a brand-new therapy room and sensory room for the pupils at our school.
Why 31 miles? Because according to research, 31% of children in the UK will experience some form of trauma before the age of 18. We wanted our challenge to represent this statistic and help raise awareness of the importance of emotional wellbeing and support for young people.
The pupils at Maple Medical PRU may attend school for a variety of reasons, including:
- Mental health needs
- Medical needs
- Autism and additional sensory needs
Many of our students benefit from calm, safe spaces where they can regulate emotions, reduce anxiety, and access support when school life becomes overwhelming.
Our goal is to create a dedicated therapy room for emotional support and wellbeing sessions and a sensory room with specialist equipment to help pupils feel calm, safe, and supported.
The money raised will go towards equipment such as:
Sensory lighting
Soft furnishings
Weighted blankets
Sensory toys and resources
Calming equipment
Interactive sensory tools
Comfortable seating and therapeutic resources
Every donation, no matter how small, will help us make a real difference to the lives of children and young people who need extra support.
Thank you so much for supporting us, encouraging us through our 31-mile challenge, and helping us create a safer and more supportive environment for our pupils.
