Hi friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
I’m reaching out with a humble heart to ask for your support as our family faces a major and very personal transition.
My hunky, Mike, was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s in 2019. He is now in stage 3, which means he lives each day with serious challenges related to balance, mobility, and basic daily tasks. His condition has progressed, and it’s clear that our current home is no longer safe or sustainable for his needs.
We have been planning for this change—working toward buying a new home and making the necessary renovations to allow Mike to live with greater comfort, dignity, and safety. All the while, we’ve tried to hold onto some sense of normalcy, enjoying the things that bring our family joy—like our love for Disney and traveling together!
But during our most recent trip, Mike had a significant health scare that deeply shook us. It was a wake-up call. What once felt like a long-term goal has now become an urgent need. As of now, we’ve put all vacations and travel on hold so we can fully focus on getting Mike into a new house that supports his health and safety.
While I am fortunate to have a stable income that allows us to afford the home itself, the cost of the renovations to make it ADA-compliant and Parkinson’s-friendly is more than we can handle alone. On top of that, we’ll likely need to carry two house payments for 6-9 months while renovations are completed and the home is made safe enough for Mike to move in.
The renovations include:
- Flooring and layout adjustments to reduce his risk of falling
- Accessible bathroom remodel (roll-in shower, grab bars, and more)
- Widened doorways and smooth pathways so he can move around freely
- Custom modifications to meet Mike’s unique hygiene and mobility needs
As a single-income household, this is a significant financial burden on top of an already emotionally challenging journey. That’s why our family is asking, with deep humility, for your help.
If you’re able to contribute—no matter the amount—we would be so grateful. Every dollar will go directly toward renovation costs and temporary housing overlap. If you can’t give financially, sharing our story or simply holding Mike in your thoughts means the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and support us however you can.
With love and gratitude,
The Forbes Family
