Help Us Cover Our Father’s Funeral Expenses
Beschermde donatie
It is with great regret that I am making this GoFundMe posting. My father Armando is one of the strongest and most resilient people I have ever met. A trait that he has passed on to his six children.
Armando was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lung Cancer back in April of 2020. The tumor was inoperable due to his extensive health problems, but with the use of a clinical trial my dad was deemed “cancer-free” after eight short months. My dad continued to get scans done every six months and the scans never showed further progression so we thought we were in the clear.
Fast forward to 2023, my father’s health began to decline again in the spring. Increased pains in most, if not all, of his body. Further scans helped us finally receive a new diagnosis in October of 2023.
This new diagnosis was unfortunately terminal. My father was re-diagnosed with Stage 4 Small Cell Lung Cancer. This cancer most commonly metastasizes in three major organs: the liver, bones, and brain. By the time he received his re-diagnosis, the cancer had already spread to his bones and his liver. The cancer in his liver completely covered the organ and the cancer in his bones made his whole body from his pelvis up, light up on the scans.
Chemotherapy and radiation were quickly restarted to alleviate his pains, but the cancer was spreading too fast. The catalyst was when he was hospitalized with RSV at the end of November. Since then, his health has been quickly declining. We are extremely grateful that we were able to spend our final holidays as a whole family, but our father is now ready to cross that bridge.
We started outpatient hospice care yesterday and shortly thereafter had to transition him into inpatient hospice due to the fact that the outpatient medication was not strong enough for his pains.
My father has been in what is technically a medically induced coma for his final days. The hospice nurses have given us an estimate of hours left with him.
Please help us as we try to navigate these difficult moments of grief.
