As many people will know, Ricky went missing on the 22nd of January 2021 and after 10 days of his friends, family and even members of the public desperately searching his body was found on the 1st of February.
What has really brought Rickys immediate family some comfort at this tragic time has been the overwhelming kindness of people and the sense of community shown throughout our search and we truly do believe if he had been alive during this time we would have found him thanks to the amount of help we received. Unfortunately from the start we understood the circumstances we were in but myself and Dean (Rickys twin brother) had made a promise to our parents that we would be bringing him home regardless and we would not give up until we had fulfilled that promise. Dean & I have proved to everyone that we would go to the ends of the earth for Ricky and we would do it all again in a heartbeat. This is why we want to set up this page to help Rickys whole family continue his legacy and ensure that the name Ricky Wellington is NEVER forgot. Our dad's end goal is to continue ongoing work on his house in France to create ‘Rickys Respite’ in Rickys name a place where anyone needing to get away from the struggles of daily life can go without the worry of cost. Somewhere no one regardless of race, gender, age, sexual orientation, abilities or financial status will be turned away. Somewhere everyone can feel safe and be themselves. We would also love to donate to the amazing Cadaver dogs that came to help us during our hours and days of need.
Ricky truly is a one in a million, anyone that has ever met him has a story to tell. He touched the hearts of so many people with his mischievous ways, his sense of adventure and his pure kindness.
Thank you for taking the time to read over this page, we still cannot quite believe what has happened and we are all absolutely heartbroken but its our role to ensure Rickys legacy will live on forever through his friends, family and anyone that has shown love towards him over the past weeks - fly high Ricky John Wellington, forever young and never ever ever forgotten. xxxx
