Appeal: Help Us Get Back on the Road

Dear friends of Open Hands,

after many years of dedicated service, our old Dacia 4x4 is sadly no longer reliable and needs replacing - the car has been a central tool in our outreach work with disadvantaged children on the ground in Romania. Without a dependable car, our team will be unable to continue their outreach and provide the vital services that these children rely on.

Why We Need Your Support

At Open Hands, our mission is to support children in underserved communities. Our dedicated team of professionals is on the front lines, travelling daily to visit homes, schools, and project sites, ensuring these children receive the care and support they need. In many cases, they are the only source of help for these vulnerable children.

Many of the children we support live in remote areas, down dusty, uneven roads that become nearly impassable during wet weather or winter. In these challenging conditions, a reliable 4x4 vehicle is a necessity.

Our Goal: £10,500

We are aiming to raise £10,500 to help cover the cost of a newer, more reliable 4x4 vehicle - a Dacia model - that will allow us to continue our work uninterrupted. The total cost of the vehicle is £17,140 - we have already raised £6,640 thanks to the generosity of some amazing supporters.

How Your Donation Will Help:

• Your contribution will help us cover the costs of a newer vehicle that can safely navigate rough, dusty roads year-round, allowing us to continue our outreach efforts without delay.

• Your donation will enable our workers to continue visiting and transporting children to medical appointments, therapies, our programs and other critical services they might otherwise miss. It will also help bring donations, such as food, to children who are struggling with poverty.

• Your donation will have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of these children. Whether it’s a small contribution or a larger donation, every bit brings us closer to our goal. What Happens If We Raise More Than Our Goal?

In the event that we raise more than £10,500 any additional funds will go towards car maintenance and fuel costs, ensuring the vehicle remains functional and ready for the on-going trips our team must make to reach these children in need.
