Hello friends & family!

I'm raising funds to purchase plants, seeds, and other supplies for the Carmen Flores Rec Center community education garden project inside Josie de la Cruz Park, located in the heart of Oakland's Fruitvale District.

Surrounded by schools and apartments, this park serves the Fruitvale district, which has the highest density of children in all of Oakland.

The education garden is currently in the middle of a much needed remodel and upgrade. Volunteers and city staff have leaned into with much sweat and love, collaborating and educating as we go!

The City of Oakland has matched these efforts by providing a batch of reclaimed redwood lumber for all new raised beds, along with Park & Recs Foundation funds providing new soil for those garden beds. Synergy!

The final step is a small accessible fund for timely purchases of veggie and herb starts, seeds, seed starting supplies, hardware, etc etc. Some of these funds will be utilized for creating our own starts from seed in future growing seasons, as well as establishing the beginnings of an automated irrigation system.
