Help us complete our new Studio room

My name is Josh Korody. I'm a Producer-Engineer-Mixer and Artist thats been working with Independent artists for the past 17 years. After losing our studio (Candle Recording) 2 years ago to greedy Landlords I've been renting studios on a per day basis and the opportunity of having my own room has come up in the building that I've been currently working in the most (Wychwood Sound).

In this single room space We'll be able to do Mixing, Production, Overdubs, Pre-Production, Writing as well as rent the space out to local Engineer-Producers and Artists. For some projects this could be a large chunk of the work and for some the entire project could be completed from start to finish. I also plan to do more workshops (educational) and creative get togethers.

Another big reason I want to do this, is since this will be a smaller space, I will be able to offer not only a cheaper day rate for any of these things but as well offer the room itself at a very affordable cost for anyone needing such a space outside of their homes.

One of the reasons why I chose to dedicate my life to this type of work is because I truly believe it’s important to have spaces outside of people’s homes to connect in person and create and imagine things together which is something that’s getting lost these days. Which I understand, studios are expensive but I’m hoping to create an even more affordable alternative.

As a previous studio owner, I know that even when a space is booked solid, with today’s shrinking budgets and increasingly non-existent grant funding, there’s a very narrow profit margin. much of which goes back into maintaining and upgrades.

My dream is to continue to create a hub for people to come together and create amazing music in what I hope will be one of the most affordable but professional rooms in the city.

While the very basic room costs are covered so far there’s still additional things left to finish the room (lots of insulation, wood/lumber, fabric, small materials, extra labour) as well as all the little things that add up.
