Vision 2020 - Help us get to Tokyo Paralympics
Donation protected

After years of blood, sweat and tears all dedicated to our specific craft of racing bikes on the road and track at the highest possible level, Lowell Taylor and Ed Veal are finally in the home stretch to reaching the goal of representing our country racing a tandem bicycle at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic games. This new pairing has shown a tremendous amount of potential in a short amount of time. After an impressive showing at the 2020 Para Track World Championships where this duo set the fastest time by a Canadian tandem at the Mattamy National Cycling Center while also making the Canadian "A" time selection standard and finishing 7th in the world in the 4km Individual pursuit, they also set a new Canadian record in the 1km TT "kilo" and set a new PB in the 200m flying lap.
Why are they racing a tandem bicycle you ask? They are racing together on the same bicycle because Lowell is visually impaired. Ed is the pilot on the front and Lowell is the stoker on the back. Together working in unison as one. Combined they can go faster and farther together than either one could ever accomplish alone.
As fast as they are on the track their real specialty and what they will be most competitive at in Tokyo will be the Time Trial out on the road. With the right preparation and equipment they feel they are medal contenders in this discipline. Having the right equipment means instead of adapting the existing tandem road bike they would really benefit from investing in a time trial specific aero frame set. This new TT specific Tandem frame set will make all the difference when travelling at 50+ kms per hour like they plan to do in Tokyo.
