NBC News Reporting on Our Flood Damage

We are Clinton and Paulo, and we live in Emerald Hills, one of the neighborhoods of San Diego that was hit hard by the flash flood of Chollas Creek on January 22nd, 2024. Our property was inundated with water and mud, and we lost most of our outdoor belongings, landscaping, and furniture. We are thankful that we are safe, as are our three cats and one Frenchie, but we are now facing a huge challenge of restoring our home and our lives.

We need help to cover the costs of mud clean up ($10,000-$25,000), rebuilding our fence ($15,000), and covering the cost of temporary displacement for at least one month while the house is being repaired (estimated to be about $5,000). The estimated total cost is around $40,000, which is more than we can afford, and this portion is not covered by our flood insurance.
