Help us choose life for our baby donkey Eclipse!

Donation protected
We recently purchased(rescued) a donkey who is in dire need of continued veterinary care. Several days before the baby donkey was set to arrive to us, the previous owner found 11 months old Eclipse stuck on a fence. This man then called me and asked if I still wanted him and that he could send me pictures. I said wow, ok yes send me pictures. He did send pictures and it showed that both his hips simply had lacerations. I texted a donkey rescue friend and we both agreed it looked like something that he could recover from.
Well Eclipse arrived on Friday, March 28th to our home in Sherwood, Arkansas. His underside was completely tore up from hip to hip. He even had skin and tissue hanging from his groin area. The pictures didn’t clearly show it all! It was awful.
This adorable gentle donkey is now sitting in our pasture already chomping on grass.
How could this man seriously even offer his donkey for sale in this condition? Did he not take the time to really see the severity? I don’t know but I did not have the heart to tell the guy “take him back”.
I thought I’d be happy to see our donkey dreams come true but it turned quite gloomy quick. The previous owner had not called a vet in those 6 days and it was clear, we could probably do a better job helping him or so I thought. Equine vets are few and far between. First available appt would be another 4 days later. We laid hands over him in that field. Lord, keep him from infection and further harm.

Within the hour, a new local friend who has several donkeys came over . She agreed it was definitely worth a vet call.

On April 1, a vet finally did make it out and well we could use some serious prayers for Eclipse’s healing. Before surgically removing a lot of tissue, Dr. Pallone asked me if I wanted to put him to sleep instead…that I’d be looking at easily 3k otherwise and there is no guarantee that the skin surrounding his penis would heal properly but he is open to try his best at giving him a future IF we could afford it.

I looked at his brother donkey Apollo licking and biting him to wake up and I felt in my spirit that we should giving him a fighting chance. I said no to euthanization and yes, to the meds and care. One more week, Lord. Donkeys have the potential to Iive 30-40 years. ***He is not showing any signs of dying…AT ALL. He is living it up in spite of his condition. Exclipse’s birthday is April 8 and we are praying He can live many more birthdays in our care.

The cost of this critical care is truly beyond our means, and that's why we're turning to you, our friends and community, for support. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to saving Eclipse’s life. Your kindness and generosity would mean the world to us and to Eclipse.

Please, help us give him the chance to heal and thrive again. Any contribution will be a beacon of hope in this difficult time. Thank you for considering our plea. I believe God can heal him completely. Would you believe that with us?! Today’s visit was $1225. Even if you can’t donate, please pray that the Lord would give us wisdom and discernment. Thank you for coming alongside us.
