Help Us Celebrate the Brief, Wondrous Life of Rajesh Sabeer

In honor and deep, unrelenting love for Rajesh, my son.

Rajesh, loving known as Rah, was so deeply interested in this world and just starting his journey through it. He finished school and was looking for his first opportunity non-stop. Every day he took advice about how this journey was just beginning, not to worry, and to just keep going. This week, we lost him to a sudden accident. There was no time to prepare, no time to contend - he was just gone. I can't express the parts of me that disappeared with him, the parts of this world that sifted into darkness. He was just such a great kid, and I am desperate to send him off properly.

He was my 19-year-old son, but telling you who he was exactly is difficult. If you ask his Dad (his hero), he was a car-loving, determined man with courage and respect. They worked on cars together, discussed all the possible futures he could have, built for tomorrow. If you ask me (his mother), he was a vibrant artist who loved anime/manga/manwha and who could tell you every arc of Naruto, One Piece, Mob Psycho, and the ins and outs of SCP Foundation. A true horror fan, a lover of weird and obscure stories. We read books together, watched anime, recommended music. He existed in this world as a curious and multi-faceted teenager who always had a question and rarely accepted the answer. Above all else, he was ready to start his life.

We are beyond broken and lost without Mr. Sabeer. We are mourning what he could've been, what he wanted to be, what he missed out on. But we are also celebrating who he was with all our being.

I want to show you Rajesh the way I knew him. Show you all his artwork, photos, videos, text messages. I wish I could show everyone how lucky I was to know him. I can't express how much I loved him with the words I have available to me. There are none that would do the job. I won't even bother trying to express how much his father loved him, his aunts, his uncle, his Grandma. He was surrounded by love and deep adoration his entire life, and I know he will continue to be loved in any form he takes. Just the most interesting, caring person I knew on this planet. I can't show you all of him, but if we can come together as a family and properly honor him, I think that will have to be enough.

Funerals and burials are kneecapping. They're expensive beyond belief, especially with everything going on in this economy, and we were already struggling on all sides.

I'm his mother, Trey Briggs, and I'm making this on behalf of the Briggs family and the Smith/Fullwood family. We have to get everyone to Atlanta to say goodbye, we want to bury him next to his beloved Granny, and we need help paying for any part of the service we can't cover. We need help sending him off properly and will appreciate anything given. Anything extra will go to helping us take the time we need to rest and try to make sense of what we have lost.

If you can't donate, sharing is still an immense help to us. You are appreciated. Above all else, please remember Rajesh Sabeer Briggs-Smith existed.
