Help Us Honor our father, Khom Sok
Dear friends, family, and compassionate strangers,
On June 3, 2025, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and family patriarch, Khom Sok, passed away after a brave and arduous battle with stage 4 lung cancer. He was 93 years old.
Khom Sok was more than a man. He was a survivor of one of the darkest chapters in modern history—the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. Through strength, wisdom, and sheer will, he led his family through war, escape, and years in refugee camps in the Philippines and Thailand, holding onto hope for a better life. That dream finally came true when they were sponsored and brought to the United States, where they eventually made Lowell, Massachusetts, their forever home.
He was the rock of our family, a man who gave everything to those he loved. He supported his children, grandchildren, and even his extended family still in Cambodia. He donated regularly to local Buddhist temples. He never asked for recognition—only that his family be safe, fed, and together.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of over 70 years, nine children (three of whom passed before him), 27 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
We are reaching out during this time of sorrow and financial strain to humbly ask for your support in helping us cover the funeral and burial expenses to honor this extraordinary life. Our goal is to give him a service that reflects the dignity and legacy he earned through a lifetime of sacrifice and love.
We are hoping to raise at least $10K to help with funeral home costs, transportation, burial arrangements, and to support his wife, grandkids, and great grandkids as she navigates life without her life partner.
If Khom’s story moved you—or if you’ve ever been touched by the love of a grandparent, a refugee’s strength, or a father’s devotion—please consider donating, no matter the amount. Every dollar helps and every share counts.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, sharing, and helping us carry out one last act of love for a man who gave so much for so many with so little.
With gratitude and love,
The Sok Family
