Welcome to Mahdara Ntafachit, a Quran school deep in the Sahara Desert of Mauritania .

These students—many of whom have come from across West Africa—live in makeshift tents, most without electricity, and with very limited access to clean water. They study the Quran daily in a place where temperatures soar to a blistering 110°F, with only two basic meals daily to sustain them.

**Our first and most urgent goal is to raise enough money to slaughter a sacrificial animal for Eid al-Adha**, so that every child here can eat meat—a rare and cherished blessing for them.

Just $2 (MRU 80) can buy 2 kg of rice—enough to feed a group of children for several days.

$5 (MRU 200) can provide 5 kg of rice—supporting them for a week or more.
