We the children of Charlie Mae Pickens have been faced with the great task of covering her funeral and burial expenses.  We wanted to reach out to our family, friends, and community for support to help give our mom a great home-going celebration. If you knew our mom Charlie you loved her. She was very comical, down to earth, and would give anyone anything she had. During her life our mother had a lot of grief to live through, but she never let it get her down. Our mom was involved in a very tragic car accident that claimed the life of my older brother Petey, and Grandmother Mary Frances, and she gave birth to our older sister Mary, named after our grandmother the very same day by emergency cesarean section. To give birth, bury your 2 year old son, and your mom days after would have broken most people, but our mom lived through it the best way she knew how. She never fully recovered from the tragedy, as she grieved them constantly having survivors guilt.  This is just a little that we wanted to share to give you a peek into the heavy load she carried during her life on this earth.
