Hi everyone,
With a broken heavy heart, I’m reaching out to ask for support for my dad, Gord — or as Sawyer lovingly calls him, Grampa G.
After a two-year battle with stomach cancer and multiple tumors, we’ve been told that he only has a few weeks left with us.
No amount of time ever feels like enough. This horrible news has been devastating for our family and extremely difficult for Sawyer to understand.
My dad is an incredible man — a loving father, a proud grandfather, brother, uncle and a true friend to so many. He’s funny, smart, and could build just about anything with his hands. He spent most of his life working hard. Even through the pain and exhaustion of cancer, that part of him never changed. While going through chemo he was still able to help us with home renovations and never complained.
One of the things I’m most proud of is that nearly three years ago, after a long struggle, my dad made the brave and life-changing decision to get sober. That takes more strength than most people will ever know. These last few years, we’ve made so many beautiful memories together. Not only is he my dad but he’s my friend. He has become the most incredible grandfather to my son, Sawyer.
All of this weighs so heavily on us. As his only daughter, and Sawyer being his only grandson, it’s hard to put into words how much this goodbye hurts. I keep thinking of all the things he’ll miss, all the things I will miss and how much more time I wish we had.
We’re asking for help to cover the many costs we’re now facing — cremation, a celebration of life, bills, and anything else needed to keep him comfortable in these final weeks. Any support, no matter how small, means the world to us. ❤️ And if you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page or simply sending your love.
Thank you for helping us honour my dad — a man who gave so much, loved hard and deserves the world.
He asked for so little, and means everything to us.
With love and gratitude,
Amber
I will update on here when there is a celebration of life happening.
