River has been around since the beginning of Renewable Farms — not just as a dog, but as a loyal companion. He’s been a constant through every stage of the farm’s growth, greeting thousands of volunteers, interns, couples, and farm workers with tail wags and unconditional love.
He’s the unofficial tour guide, our emotional support system, and the farm's number one greeter. His favorite pastime? Dropping his ball over the pond net, while patiently waiting for someone — anyone -- to retrieve it; this may just be his favorite game ever! If you’ve visited the farm, chances are you’ve played it too.
But more than anything, River is Aaron’s best friend — our farm director and River’s person. For over a decade, they’ve been inseparable partners in building Renewable Farms into what it is today.
Last night, River was tragically diagnosed with a tumor on his spleen, and he has begun experiencing internal bleeding. The prognosis is uncertain, and we don’t know how much time we have left. What we do know is that we want to give him the most love-filled, joy-packed final days possible.
We are reaching out to the community — to everyone who has shared a moment, a smile, or a butt scratch with River — to help us cover:
-The emergency medical costs from last night
-His ongoing hospice and comfort care
Any donation, big or small, would mean the world. Whether you knew River for five minutes or five years, you know how extremely special and well loved he is. Help us honor his legacy and give back some of the love he’s given so freely. Also, we would love to see any photos or hear any memories you have of him. If you have a moment, please comment below or send us a message to our event's email or one of our instagram pages.
Thank you for being part of River’s journey.
