Last September, our lives changed forever. We lost our mother, and our father lost his wife and his best friend. Just two weeks before her passing, he was diagnosed with stage 5 dementia at 81. Since then, I have become his full-time caregiver while trying to balance my full-time job.
Our father is a proud veteran, but unfortunately, he is not eligible for the level of VA assistance he needs. Month to month, we've been just trying to make ends meet. He lost half his income and still has a mortgage on top of his ongoing medical costs.
Our biggest priority is making sure our father is safe, comfortable, and cared for. These funds will go toward paying for a caregiver, allowing him to go to the senior center more often for socialization, and helping cover other medical expenses.
Some of his needs include help waking up, brushing his teeth, taking his morning, afternoon, and night medication, daily walks, physical exercises, meal prep, laundry, cleaning the house, and bathing. He also has two dogs who bring him a ton of happiness and company. On top of the mortgage, HOA fees, and medical supplies, he needs to cover the cost of overall home maintenance and care for the dogs.
It would mean the world to us to have your support. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help keep our father in good spirits and health as I do my best to care for him. Thank you for reading our story and for considering a donation or sharing this fundraiser with others.
