Dear friends and family,

We’re reaching out to you during a challenging time for our beloved cat, Lasso. She’s a sweet 4-year-old tortoiseshell weighing just under 7 lbs, and she’s been through so much in the past few months.

In June, right before our move from Austin to Portland, Lasso had a quarter-sized non-cancerous cyst removed from her belly. We hoped for a smooth transition to our new home, but 6 weeks later, she started experiencing severe vomiting. After two emergency vet visits, she was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Thankfully, with a special prescription diet, she recovered. However, shortly thereafter, we noticed her inner eyelid showing constantly. Despite several vet visits and rounds of antibiotic ointment, her condition only worsened.

On September 21, Lasso underwent a CT scan at Bridgetown Emergency Vet, revealing an invasive mass in her head. This has caused permanent blindness in her right eye and occlusion of her right ear canal. We’re currently waiting for biopsy results, but we’ve been informed to expect a diagnosis of aggressive malignant cancer.

So far, Lasso's medical expenses have totaled $8,034, including vet appointments, emergency stays, anesthesia, and medication. We’re asking for your support to help cover these costs as we navigate the difficult decisions ahead regarding her care.

Lasso is such a big part of our small family. She is a purr machine who has even been purring at the vet anytime the doctor tries to listen to her heart with the stethoscope (which poses an adorable challenge for every doctor she's seen recently). She receives gold stars for tolerating all kinds of pokes and prods and has been the best patient who all of the vet staff fawn over. She's our white noise machine as she purrs herself to sleep on Nate's pillow every night.
