Help us care for Dorothy and Dixie

Hi friends!

I’m reaching out to our community with a need.

As many of you know, James and I live on a busy and working farm that carries a vision from the Lord to one day become a resource and a blessing to families all around the region. Our farm is 22 acres and if you know anything about farms, you know that often they come with a whole lot of animals! We have goats, chickens, sheep, rabbits, and cows.

We brought in Great Pyrenees to help guard and protect these animals from predators and they have been a blessing to this farm as loyal, gentle giants who take their job seriously. Our Pyrenees came to us unfixed and not spayed. We never planned to breed Pure bred Great Pyrenees and a few accidental crossings happened due to some well-meaning people that were visiting or staying here for a time and were unfamiliar with the setup of our farm.

We currently have a a surprise litter of puppies that will be going to new homes soon; the money that comes from this litter goes back to the funds spent to make sure mom and babies are well, healthy and taken care of.

We need your help

While we’ve loved every moment learning about puppies and birth we want to end accidental litters of pure bred Great Pyrenees puppies here at the farm. We’re in need of your help to spay both of our girls and one needing an additional surgery. After numerous calls to different vets in the region, we’ve thankfully qualified for a voucher program that helps with a portion of the cost. That said, the remaining out-of-pocket total is still significant and out of reach for us.

Frederick Humane Society gave us a voucher for $320 for each dog that will go towards the spaying of both dogs. That leaves us with the cost to spay both girls of $860. In addition, our sweet Dixie needs entropion surgery — a condition where her bottom eyelid folds inward, causing constant irritation to her eye. This procedure is estimated at $2000-$3,000 with her first consultation appointment being on July 31st. These fees are just procedures alone not including pain meds, any vaccines required, bloodwork, and exam fees. Together the cost is estimated to be around $4,000.

We’re hoping to move forward with the surgeries end of July or beginning of August, and would be deeply grateful for any support that you are led to give.

If you know us, you know we’d do anything to help our people. And right now, we’re leaning into the community that we love and are asking for your help — for Dixie, Dorothy, and the beautiful life we’re building here.

Thank you for reading, for praying, for considering and for sharing. Every bit helps — and means more than we can say. ❤️
