It started with one cat and one video. It grew into a community of the most kind-hearted, wonderful people,. We've even added a few (*cough cough, just a few) more cats to our coop along the way. Now, the house where it all began is for SALE! So I have an idea. What if we turn the place where it began into something that lasts forever? Something that could provide financial support for the coop kitties' and foster's vet bills, donation drives, and sponsor families?

Many of you visiting this page may already know our story but if you don't, hey there! I’m Julia! Three years ago, I shared a quick video of an abandoned cat I found living in a chicken coop of the house I had just moved into. I truly didn't think much of it when I posted it, but within hours, hundreds of thousands of people were falling in love with the little coop kitty. Little did I know that a few days later, we'd find ANOTHER abandoned kitty and three weeks later, 2 feral kittens.

While winning the cat distribution system lottery was incredible, the community of people who came together on social media to help care for them is truly indescribable. Over the last 3 years, the coop kitty community has helped me not only get the coop kitties healthy and happy, but also countless other animals and people through their ever-generous donations. The Coop Kitty Community has helped us pay for Coop's dental care, Finn's mystery ailment that we nearly lost him to, Roof's heart murmur, CJ and Sadie's spay/neuter, a massive renovation on our sponsor family's home, school supplies for our sponsor school, and so much more. Honestly too much to name and I am truly so humbled and blown away by this community's love and support not just for the coop kitties, but for all animals and people.

Recently, I found out the original Coop Kitty home, the place where it all started, has been renovated and is on the market. I was talking to some friends and mentors in the community and a vision was born!

My vision is to purchase the original Coop Kitty home and transform it into a unique short-term rental with little sprinkles of "coop kitty" lore throughout! My hope is that the income from the rental would directly fund the ongoing medical care of the coop kitties, the fosters, and support our nonprofit supply drives.

The community has gone above and beyond over the last several years in support of the coop kitties, fosters, and beyond, and I'm hoping this would be a way to pay for their care without continuously having to ask the community for help with expenses. Wouldn't it be amazing if the place where it all started became the thing that provided the funds for their bills?

This project would:

Give us a sustainable way to fund veterinary care and rescue work!

Create a place for community members and supporters to visit and experience the magic in person

The goal is $275,000 (goal seat at $280,000 to cover fees). I know it’s big, but I’ve seen this community pull off miracles before and if there's any community that could do it, I know it's the coop kitty community! This is our chance to create a sustainable stream of funds for the kitties who stole our hearts all those years ago.

Even $1 or $5 from enough people will get us there! And of course, I will bring y'all along the whole journey of turning the original house into our coop kitty-inspired short-term rental

On the outside, it may look like a regular little house but we all know it as the place where the coop kitties became a part of our families. Not just my family, but everyone who has watched and supported us over the years! And if given the chance, I would love to host our community members in OUR family home.
