Help us build Squirrel Acres WA wildlife rescue

Hi, my name is Crystal and together with my partner, friends and volunteers, we are building a Washington based wildlife rescue that will be focused on the rescue, rehabilitation and release of all squirrel species in Washington state.

Currently, like many other states, not all squirrels are protected by law because they are considered "pests" and sadly that means that it's illegal to transport them or release them unless liscened, But it IS legal to hunt them and kill them, regardless of how inhumane the method or how it leaves many babies to die of starvation when their mothers are killed.

Our mission at Squirrel Acres is to offer rescue, rehabilitation and legal release back into the wild, where they can live as nature intended... before humans came and destroyed their habitats and started killing them.

In order to get our licensing to become a Washington certified rehabilitation center, we need to meet certain criteria. The first obstical was to obtain property and now that we have done that (5 wooded acres), we need to build the enclosures and shelter for keeping and treating the squirrels. We will also collaborate with another wildlife rescue that is able to take in other species for rehabilitation.

Each enclosure will cost about $5000 in materials to build, plus the addition of a shed for nessasary shelter. We will be building our own tiny cabin to live on site, but the cost of land, utilities and all the expenses of development, are quickly draining the funds and we won't have enough to build the enclosures. This money will go directly to build the first two outdoor enclosures that will allow a safe place for the squirrels to live until they are ready for release. We could really use some help with making this mission a reality, weather that be monetary or material.
