Help us build secure fence after attack
Hi all. Some of you may know that we have been struggling with a neighbor for over a year who cannot contain his aggressive dogs, last year they mauled our neighbors dog to death in our yard. We immediately built a privacy fence on our boardering property with the help of friends and finished the remaining perameter with t posts and cattle fencing as that is what we could afford. Since we moved here I have never felt safe with Patty in the yard, the cattle fence is big enough for a dog to fit its mouth through and weak enough to be pummeled down by one or two heavy dogs. This constant anxiety keeps us from being able to enjoy our yard or garden fully, ever.
Two days ago our worst fears came true and Patty was viciously attacked by another dog of the same breed. Unfortunately, this happened when we least expected it at a park by a friend's dog. I was able to intervene by choking the dog (please remember this if you are ever in a similar situation), but not without getting bit and injured myself. We are trying to work with the owner on the resulting medical and vet bills, but we cannot hold off any longer on finishing the wood privacy fence around the remainder of our yard.
Worth and I have both recently gotten jobs after a few months of unexpected unemployment. While we have tried to recover financially while working in non-profits and state-funded positions, we are not yet in a place to be able to do this alone and won't be for a long time, and we just cannot wait any longer. I do not feel comfortable taking Patty out of the house for a long time, but we also don't feel safe letting her into the yard. She deserves so much more than that. So please if you can help us with any of this cost (we do not expect to raise the full amount), it would be a tremendous boost to us and our spirits.
