HELP US BUILD A SAFE HAVEN FOR THE STREET DOGS OF CYPRUS

My name is Anna, and for some time I have been involved in raising funds for street dogs in Cyprus and helping these beautiful, neglected souls find safe and loving homes.

I work alongside Maria, who runs Paws Cyprus, and who has dedicated many years to rescuing dogs that have been abandoned, injured, starving or simply left to survive on the streets.

Now, after years of hard work, we have an incredible opportunity to make a much bigger difference.

❤️ WE ARE BUILDING A SHELTER.

Maria has secured a plot of land from the municipality in Lefke, Cyprus, where we are creating a safe haven for street dogs.

This shelter will give vulnerable dogs somewhere safe to stay while they:

Recover from injuries and illness

Receive vaccinations and veterinary treatment

❤️ Learn to trust people again

✈️ Prepare for travel to loving homes across the UK and Europe

But this shelter isn't only about the dogs we rescue ourselves.

Across Cyprus there are individual rescuers doing extraordinary work, often using their own money to save dogs from the streets. They pay veterinary bills, buy food and sometimes spend hundreds of pounds on pet hotels simply to keep a rescued dog safe while transport or a permanent home is arranged.

We want our shelter to help them too.

Where possible, we will offer other genuine rescuers safe accommodation for their dogs at reduced costs, allowing their limited funds to stretch further and hopefully enabling even more dogs to be saved.

THE FIRST 10 SHELTER HOMES HAVE NOW BEEN ORDERED

Each shelter home costs approximately £750 and can accommodate up to four dogs, potentially more when caring for puppies.

That means our first 10 homes could provide safe accommodation for around 40 dogs at a time.

But building the shelter is only the beginning.

We estimate that feeding the initial dogs waiting to come into the shelter will cost around £800 every month — before veterinary treatment, vaccinations, medication and the many other costs involved in rescue.

We already have dogs waiting for this shelter to open.

Dogs that don't understand why they were abandoned.

Dogs that are frightened, dehydrated and hungry.

Dogs that, despite everything they have experienced, will still cautiously come towards you hoping for kindness.

They don't need luxury. They need safety, food, medical care and someone willing to give them a chance.

And that is what we are trying to give them.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.

No donation is too small.

£5, £10, £20 or £50 may not feel like a huge amount individually, but when a community comes together, those donations can build shelters, fill food bowls and ultimately save lives.

You can also help by:

❤️ Donating towards the shelter build

Contributing towards one of our £750 shelter homes

Helping with our £800 monthly food bill

Sponsoring the care of a rescue dog

Sharing this appeal with friends, family and animal lovers

And if you cannot donate, please share this post. A share costs nothing, but it could put our appeal in front of the person who can help us take the next step.

Our dream is to create somewhere these dogs can finally feel safe while they wait for the families they deserve.

From the street, to safety, to home. ❤️

Thank you from Anna, Maria, Paws Cyprus and, most importantly, every dog whose life your support could help change.

Please donate. Please share. Please help us build their safe haven.
