Help Us Build Hope: Rovers Return Sanctuary Project

Donation protected

Every day, dogs are abandoned on dirt roads, in empty lots and out in the middle of nowhere in Riverside County.
Mothers raising litter after litter, injured strays hit by cars, seniors left behind when their owners move, they all need one thing we don’t yet have and that is a safe place to heal.

At Rovers Return Dog Rescue, we’ve worked tirelessly to Feed. Fix. Network. Now it’s time for the next step, to build a sanctuary where these dogs can recover, rebuild trust, and begin new lives.

Why We Need a Sanctuary

Shelters are overwhelmed and euthanizing for space daily. There is a huge shortage of foster homes and the fosters we have are full.
Dogs are being abandoned daily in remote areas where there is no food or water. Every week, we turn away dogs because we simply have nowhere safe to put them. We feed many strays out in place because we have nowhere to put them. We fix them to prevent unwanted litters but but this is not enough. These dogs deserve a chance.

The Rovers Return Sanctuary will provide:
  • Safe housing for up to 20 dogs at a time
  • A medical recovery area for injured or post-surgery dogs
  • Shaded play yards for rehabilitation and enrichment
  • Secure fencing and climate-controlled kennels
  • A small volunteer area and memorial garden for those we couldn’t save

It will be a place of peace, healing, and hope. A lifeline for dogs who have no other chance.

Our Goal: $375,000

We’re raising funds to purchase land and build a fully licensed, insured, and sustainable sanctuary in rural Riverside County.

Phase 1 – Land & Fencing ($150,000)
Purchase or lease 1–2 acres zoned for animal use; fencing, grading, and utilities.

Phase 2 – Kennels & Infrastructure ($125,000)
Modular kennels, quarantine and recovery units, shade structures, water and power connections.

Phase 3 – Medical & Operations Setup ($100,000)
Feed and medical storage, equipment, cameras, solar, first-year insurance, licenses, and startup reserves.

Why This Matters

You’ve seen some of our rescues
Odin & Freya’s hungry, and their family, on a piece of land next to a busy road, who were at risk of being killed or taken.
Joey, attacked by other dogs.
Layla and her 11 pups, also Luka, Jack and Diane, all abandoned and cared for by the homeless until they found a way out to foster or rescue.
Waldon, Joy & Nara, Bennet, just some of the abandoned and given a chance because someone cared.

We can do more but we need a secure haven for the next ones waiting.
The Sanctuary will be their bridge from fear to forever, a place where the broken can mend and take a rest.
