Help us Rebuild Habitats!

Tax deductible

Florida Wild Mammal Association is grateful for the support we have received since Hurricane Idalia. While we escaped the worst of the storm, several of our cages were damaged during the storm, and two had to be completely dismantled. We are seeking additional funding to repair cages for our education pelicans and deer, our vulture flight cage and one of our hawk flights, our small bird and bat flight cage, and an opossum release cage. We also need to make repairs to our laundry area and secure several cages that suffered more minor damage from the storm.

FWMA continues to accept orphaned and injured wildlife in large numbers, including over fifteen bunnies, ten squirrels, and four flying squirrels in the last three weeks. Our outdoor cages are essential for these patients to learn skills like foraging, hunting, and nest building prior to release as well as maintaining superior welfare for our permanent residents. Our funding will help us purchase the following materials to rebuild our cages and ensure we can continue to support our local wildlife:

1) Pretreated boards in various sizes, 5/4 inch deck boards, yellow pine boards, ribbed roof panels, hardware cloth, and concrete to rebuild our hawk pen,
2) Pretreated boards, variously sized deck boards, and concrete to rebuild our vulture enclosure,
3) Pretreated boards and deck boards, concrete, hardware cloth, and roofing panels to rebuild our opossum pen,
4) Pretreated boards, yellow pine boards, concrete, dog ear pickets, and ribbed roofing panels to repair the fence of our deer yard and our deer barn,
5) Pretreated boards, deck boards, and concrete to repair the deck and level the pool in our education pelican enclosure, and
6) Composite jam and vinyl brick mold, pretreated boards, and plywood to repair our laundry area.

This funding goal will also help us buy material to fully repair our duck cages, opossum release cages, and small raptor flight.

FWMA relies exclusively on support from private donors to fund our rehabilitation efforts. Thank you all so much for making our work possible!
