Dear friends, family, and supporters,

I’m writing to share a dream born from love, loss, and the enduring power of creativity. My name is Catarina, and I am opening a second location of GLR Books in Brooklyn — a space dedicated not just to global literature, but also to keeping the spirit and life’s work of my son, Gabriel (GLR), alive.

Gabriel was a brilliant light in this world — an artist, a musician, a deep thinker, and a quiet force of good for those around him. He believed fiercely in the power of art, music, and community to heal, uplift, and transform. He poured his heart into supporting young artists, building community spaces, and helping others find their voice.

Though his time with us was far too short, his vision continues to inspire everything I do. GLR Books Brooklyn will be more than just a bookstore — it will be a living tribute to his legacy: a sanctuary for artists, musicians, writers, and dreamers of all kinds.

We envision a space where:

• Emerging and underrepresented voices can find a platform

• Community events like open mics, readings, and art shows bring people together

• A special room is dedicated to Gabriel’s own music, writing, and artwork

• Local kids can access books, art supplies, and musical instruments — no questions asked

To bring this vision to life, we need your help.

We’re raising funds to cover renovation costs, event licensing, bookshelves, art installations, and the creation of a permanent community art & music space within the store.
