My name is Adam Armfield, and I'm the founder and volunteer President of Humanos 3D — a nonprofit that uses 3D printing and open-source innovation to provide free assistive limbs to those who need them most. www.humanos3d.org IG: Humanos3d
Our journey began in Colombia, where we saw firsthand how children and adults were living without limbs — not because they couldn’t be helped, but because the help was out of reach. Traditional prosthetics are expensive, require medical expertise, and can take months to produce. We wanted to offer something different: an accessible, affordable, and empowering solution.
Since then, we've delivered hundreds of personalized, 3D-printed limbs across Latin America. This year, Humanos 3D was honored with international recognition from the United Nations Zero Project in Vienna for our contribution to disability inclusion.
Now, we are expanding into some of the world’s most underserved regions — including the middle and parts of Africa — where thousands of amputees lack access to care. While our devices are not professional medical-grade prosthetics, they provide important advantages: they are lightweight, low-cost, functional, and often life-changing — particularly for children and youth.
This work is deeply personal. It’s built on the belief that everyone deserves the chance to live with dignity, mobility, and confidence. We are and donor-supported with q strong local and international volunteer team.Every dollar raised goes directly into producing devices, delivering them to those in need, and training local partners to continue the work on the ground.
If you believe in the power of simple ideas to create global change, please join us. Your support can help us give someone their first chance to write, hold, play, or work again — to feel whole. As an added bonus my Employer (AbbVie) will match every dollar donated!
Let’s build a world of equal ability, together.
